The One Planet Summit coalitions met in Nairobi, Kenya on March 14, 2019. The goal was to accelerate and strengthen climate action to achieve meaningful results for African people, while protecting biodiversity.
On the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, the One Planet Summit 2018 has a dual objective: to take stock of the 12 commitments announced during the first edition and to mobilize decision-makers, at the highest level, in order to accelerate climate action, particularly in the area of sustainable financing.
Emmanuel Macron, the President of the French Republic, Antonio Guterres, the Secretary General of the United Nations and Jim Yong Kim, the President of the World Bank, have created the One Planet Coalition to accelerate the implementation of the Paris Agreement and mobilize public and private actors in the race against global warming.
